Fantastic service

Thank you to Snowy's for sending a third replacement after the previous two arrived damaged and unusable. We have cooked a delicious red wine beef casserole with rice in the smaller pot. It was delicious and the pots were still very hot to the touch after 6 hours.
Great service and a great product.

Happy customer

Love it. But it is too big for just two people. Will probably buy a smaller one when it is on special! :)

Thickness of base1 answer

Hi, would like to know the thickness of the base of the inside pot.

- 2036(6 months ago)

G'day Missy,

I've tried to measure the base form our display stock. While it's hard to do to be 100% accurate, it's about 3-4mm thick.

- Snowys(6 months ago)

where is it made?1 answer

- 2137(11 months ago)

G'day Bianca,

I've just called the supplier, and they've confirmed that the Campfire Travel Chef Thermal Cooker is made in China.

Bag for Cooker1 answer

We checked the page #40162 as advised in a previous question on purchasing a bag and this says unavailable. Can you buy a bag?

- Terrigal(12 months ago)

G'day Chantelle,

I've just had a look into this for you and the Travel Chef Thermal Cooker Bag is not available anymore as it's been discontinued.

I've looked through our range and it doesn't seem that there is anything similar that's insulated so I'm sorry we couldn't help you out Chantelle.

Can you cook 2 separate meals in the 2 inner pots at the same time, stacking one pot on top of the other?1 answer

- PERTH, WA(1 year ago)

Hi Kim, I’ve just had a look at the instruction manual, and you definitely can use both pots at the same time by stacking them. It’s actually really handy when you want to save time by simultaneously cooking a main and a side for dinner.

Bag?1 answer

hi, does the cooker come with the bag or is it an extra please ??

- FURNISSDALE, WA(1 year ago)
G'day Blackjack - It doesn't come with a bag but you can buy one separately. The code - pop it in the search box at the top of the page - is: #40162. Hope that helps. Cheers, Paul

Exactly how does this heat up in the first place? Does it have an electrical connection, or doeds it have to be heated up on gas or in a campfire?3 answers

- Stirling(2 years ago)
Hi Chris, you start the cooking process for these on your cooktop. Boil water or heat up your stew then transfer the hot contents to the insulated Thermal Cooker where the heat is retained and it slow cooks for up to 8 hours. There are a number of methods to cook various meals, and with a bit of experimentation you can produce some great food from these with minimal fuss.
- Snowys(2 years ago)

Hi Chris, what happens after 8 hours? Does the food start going off?

- Bellbrae(1 year ago)
Chris, after 8 hours it will start to cool, and you do need to be careful as your food reaches the "danger zone" between 5°C and 60°C where bacteria can grow. I would not recommend leaving your food in the Thermal Cooker for longer than 8 hours.

We go 4wd driving a lot, so climbing hills and sometimes quite bumpy roads. Will the liquid spill out of the cooker if we're climbing hills etc?3 answers

- MELBOURNE, VIC(2 years ago)

Whilst we haven't had any comments regarding spilling, the pot lid is not vacuum sealed and given all the variables involved, there is a chance some spillage may occur.

- Snowies(2 years ago)

Yes you can get spillage. You do need to hear it and then let the vacuum seal form (about 10 mins) then we put it in a bucket inside its bag, an wrapped in a towel when 4 wheel driving. It does still work and not too messy.

Thanks for sharing your insight, Sue. And great tips for eliminating a mess. :) Cheers, Paul

Campfire Travel Chef Thermal Cooker3 answers

Can you use this Thermal cooker on stovetop, induction. gas stove and campfire?

- DAKABIN, QLD(2 years ago)
They are not designed for induction Rita, but the internal pots are stainless steel and can be used on electric and gas stovetop as well as in the campfire, although this will blacken them. The external unit is only used to insulate the pots and cannot be placed on a heated surface.
- Snowys(2 years ago)

We have used it successfully on an induction stove for the initial boiling stage of cooking.

G'day Helen,

That's great information. Thanks for sharing!
