Hi Would an Exped Megamat Duo fit in this tent? Thanks
G'day Pete,
I've not got an Exped Megamat on display at the minute, so I grabbed one of the Double Zempire Megamats, which are slightly larger to try on the Black Wolf Tanami Delta 3 Tent. I was able to get it to fit although it was a pretty tight squeeze. It does touch at the foot and head ends but only on the bucket floor part of the tent, so you shouldn't have any issues with it leaking.
Hi We have 2 x oz trail king single mattresses, each 193 cm long by 80 cm wide. Do you think we will get them side by side in the Delta 3? The floodplain dimensions suggest we should be able to....
G'day Jim,
I've just taken my trusty tape measure to the floor of our display model of the Black Wolf Tanami Delta 3 Tent. You will be able to fit your two mattresses in but they'd need to be right next to each other and would still go right to the edge on all 4 sides, you wouldn't have room for any bags etc. in the tent with you. It might be worth your while looking at the Black Wolf Tanami Delta 4 Tent.
The features on this tent are what I'm looking for but I was hoping that it would be packable for an overnight hiking trip. At 5.5kg though it's on the heavy side for us. What could you recommend that's similar in features and quality, but is light enough to carry in a backpack, say no more 2.5kg all up? Thanks!
G'day Roger,
Great question - unfortunately, there's nothing that specifically fits your request.
The Tanami is a camping tent, what you ultimately need is a hiking tent.
The MSR Mutha Hubba available here is far better quality and the weight is where you'd like it to be, but potentially lacking in a few features. The cost is also much more significant.
You could also consider the Zempire Trilogy available here which is similar quality, but again, not as many features and the weight 1kg more than what you're looking for.
If you'd like to chat through these or other options further, please don't hesitate to give us a call on 1300 914 007.
I have a large family tent but need a smaller one for solo camping trips.
G'day Lucy,
It sure can be pitched by one person! In fact take a look at our video of Mandy, one of the Black Wolf staff, doing a pitching demonstration on our You Tube channel here (https://youtu.be/QwkjQhdICqo).
I am a single Mum looking to go camping with my 1 year old. I am looking at this Tanami Delta 3 or a pop-up tent. Criteria being I need to be able to erect tent by myself, without it taking too long with baby watching on. Other requirements I want to be able to fit her Baby Bjorn portacot (82 x 112 x 64 assembled) in tent, plus a single self-inflating mat for me such as Black Wolf Mega Deluxe (198 x 77). We are both fair-skinned so a vestible or awning providing some sun protection is also desirable. And ideally not too heavy / large as I will be carrying her as well as tent.
Hi Emma,
Unfortunately I don't think the Tanami Delta 3 will work for your situation because of the Portacot. While technically the cot and Mega Deluxe mat would fit side-by-side in the tent, we have to consider the height of the cot and the slope of the tent walls, and it won't work.
You'll have the same problem with our pop up tents. What you need is a tent with more head height! A couple of options to consider are the Coleman Instant Up 4P tent of the Mannagum Glenelg 4V.
Have a look at those and see what you think! Please feel free to give us a call on 1300 914 007, we can run through some of the options in more detail. I'm sure we'll be able to find the perfect tent for you!Â
I am considering buying a tent for my son's 16th birthday, which will be able to last him for quite a while. How would you compare this to the Coleman Overlander 4P? Is there a difference in quality? I can see that the Coleman is twice the weight but we normally throw the tent into the 4wd so that shouldn't be too much of an issue.
What tent do you recommend for rain dew and wind 3-4 person
Hi Paul We will be traveling in a 4wd putting up the tent and staying 4-5 days just for sleeping in with a double mattress 2 people with plenty room (3-4person) Stay dry warm and secure(wind).
I'm looking for a tent I can take with me when I go 4WD with my friends, and I need something that will work well in all conditions. Is it possible with this tent?
