Scarpa

Scarpa's history dates back to 1938 when it was founded in Asolo, in the Montebelluna region of Italy. Their initial mission was to bring all the best shoemakers in the region together with the aim of producing the best footwear anywhere. The word Scarpa stands for 'Società Calzaturiera Asolana Riunita Pedemontana Anonima' which translates to 'Associated Shoe Manufacturing Company of the Asolo Mountain Area'.

In 1956 Scarpa was purchased by Luigi Parisotto and the shoes produced by the 17 expert shoemakers were becoming widely known as durable and comfortable around Italy. The company continued to innovate through the 1960's following the company's recognition of the needs of Italy's growing mountaineering and climbing culture and in the 1970's their innovation extended to ski boots. 

Scarpa was the first to build a boot with a Gore-Tex lining, developed the first plastic telemark ski boot and by 2007 introduced the first telemark and alpine touring compatible boot. Scarpa hiking boots and walking shoes are made to high standards, some of them are still made in Italy, their passion for quality extends to a passion for the sports they create footwear for which leads to a passion for performance within these sports.
