RV3 Fly

First outing certainly assisted with keeping the tent cool, though a littler darker inside during the day. Couple points: 1. How does one stop the noise created by wind on the fly? I've tried everything I could short of taking it down. It's much worse than wind on the tent "canvas". 2. There were no assembly/erection instructions in the box or the carry bag. Pegs are very robust. There seem to be at least two ropes missing. Some ropes are longer than others and I can't work out the logic of which rope goes where, especially as I think that there are two missing.

Response from Snowys Nov 02 2018

Hi Mark, thanks for your feedback. Provided the fly is pitched tightly you shouldn't get any more noise than your regular synthetic tent, but it will be noisier than the heavier canvas on your RV3. All I can recommend is making sure the fabric is taught, particularly around the edges.

You should have 7 guy ropes to attach to the flysheet. There will be an eyelet in each corner and an extra one in the centre of the long rear edge i.e. two on each side and three at the back.

If you would like to talk to one of our team about the troubles you're having, or if you think there are items missing from your RV Fly kit, then please give us a call on 1300 914 007. ~ Ben

Excellent addition for our RV5

With temperatures dropping to zero & below overnight, we’d previously woken to icicles dropping onto our sleeping bags, with the addition of the Fly on our last trip, & similar overnight temperatures, no more icicles!
Snowys provide an excellent service, we would not hesitate in recommending them

RV 4 Fly

Snowys service perfect, all as described. I am not sure of teh design of the fly, mainly the shape. It serves the function of keeping crap off your tent, reducing condensation and keeping cooler. I just think the shape of teh side flaps could be a little better thought out

OZGent RV5 Fly

Definitely keeps the tent cooler and much easier to clean the bird poop and tree sap off than from the tent. We leave the fly attached fold it up with the tent - this work very well. Well worth the purchase.

Will it fit the RX-51 answer

I am wondering if it will fit the RX-5, as I can not find a replacement fly for the RX-5.

- Dunlop/Canberra(1 month ago)

G'day Sean,

I've rung Oztent to confirm this, and yes the flysheet from an RV-5 will fit the RX-5, it'll just be a different colour.

- Snowys(1 month ago)

what is the difference between the silver and green version and the all grey version?1 answer

I noticed two different photos for this item , can you still get the all sliver?

- Mainbeach(1 year ago)

G'day Andrew,

I've just spoken with Oztent to confirm, and they've told me that the RV Fly is silver on the top, and green on the sides. It may look a little different in the lifestyle shots depending on the lighting perhaps, but it should look the way it does in the first image.

Re fly1 answer

Hi, would this fly zip on a oztent rv2 tagalong tent.

- Port macquarie(1 year ago)

G'day Ken,

Unfortunately the Oztent RV Fly is only desgned to work with the Oztent RV Tents but not with the Oztent Tagalong Tents. Oztent do make a Tagalong Fly (click here to view) but from my understanding Oztent are only making RV3,4 & 5 Tagalong Tents and Flys to match so you may want to double check the model of your tent before ordering anything.

Fly Fabric1 answer

Hi could you confirm for me the fly material, your website says polycotton canvas but the Oztent website says ripstop nylon? Many Thanks

- Sorrento(1 year ago)

G'day Jason,

Our apologies, we have this wrong on our website. The Oztent Fly is made from a Silver Coated Rip-Stop Nylon. We'll look to change our details today.

Will this fly fit onto the zipper on an older Black Wolf branded Oz 30 Sec Tent?3 answers

We bought our tent when the Oz 30 sec tents first came out and is the original yellow and green canvas type. It measures 2.4m wide by 2m deep, so it's the dimensions of the current RV3. The tent has just started leaking and an inspection shows the seam taping has come away in spots where the back sloping wall meets the roof. As well as the words 'Oz Tent', '30 second tent' and the Black Wolf logo, the label near the front zipper says 'S5' (handwritten) and 'Discovery'.

Hi Chrissy! We haven't seen the older version of the Oztent around for quite a while! I'm not sure if the fly will fit, it sounds like the size is right but I'm not sure if the zipper would have changed. I'll have to get in touch with Oztent and see what they can tell me. Leave it with me and I'll get back to you early in the week.
- Snowys(3 years ago)
Hi Chrissy, I've spoken with Oztent and they've confirmed that you will be able to use the RV3 Fly but the zipper is different. You'll need to take it to a canvas repairer who will be able to change the zip to fit the one you have on your tent. Oztent do have a repairer that they use in Brisbane, feel free to contact them directly to get those details.
