Author of The Essential 4WD Guides Brad McCarthy would often travel solo in the bush, researching for his well-known guidebooks. After almost losing his bogged vehicle to the incoming tide, he decided the standard recovery equipment he had with him didn’t match up to what he had in mind for the MAXTRAX brand.

From that point, he realised the importance of a safe, simple, one-person system for recovering a bogged vehicle that doesn’t rely on outside assistance. This idea led to the development of the MAXTRAX recovery board – an Australian-made and fail-safe product that allows the extraction of a bogged vehicle in a fast, easy fashion.

The product launched on the Australian market in 2005, and the brand has gone from strength to strength ever since. From winning multiple awards to expanding across the globe, MAXTRAX continues to meet the needs of 4WD adventurers worldwide.
