Comparing Oztrail and Oztent Stretcher Tents Watch video

The Easy Fold Stretcher Tent from Oztrail takes everything you love from traditional outdoor shelters - the elevation of a stretcher, the spacious head height of a tent and the cosiness of a swag and combines it into one magnificent package.

You won’t even have to spend time setting up your sleeping quarters because this shelter folds out with no assembly required. All you need to do is chuck your mattress, sleeping bag and pillow inside and you’ll be good to go. The fabric is treated to repel water, and the seams of the fly are taped so once it’s properly set up you’ll stay dry all night.

With three doors you’ll never feel trapped in, and you can just roll out of bed easily no matter how sore you are from yesterday’s energetic adventure. In good weather you can use it without the fly, and with the mesh roof you’ll be able to fall asleep while looking at the stars.

  • Instant up with no assembly required
  • Powder coated steel frame for strength and protection against rust
  • UV protected fabric
  • Water repellant fabric
  • Taped fly seams for water protection
  • Insect proof mesh
  • 3 Large easy access doors
  • Carry bag included
  • Comes with awning

Oztrail Stretcher tent

It's easy to set up and comfortable. Granted.
But- Getting it back in the bag is a nightmare. Oztrail let themselves and me down with that.

Oztrail cot tent

Missus and I have a double Kulyne Kamper that is also on a frame and it is just great although it is heavy and cumbersome with rods to be inserted and requires two people to set it up. A drovers dog could be taught to put up the Oztrail cot tent. I bought one just for the Canning Stock Route travelling by myself and it was absolutely perfect for the job. Only used the fly once. Like others, can't fit it all back in the bag so wifey made a seperate soft bag for the fly part which stays in the car unless I think I might need it. Super fast set-up and pack down, gotta be carefull with zipping the bag up so you don't catch the zip on the mesh. Will order another one for my grandson to take him away camping. My trip accommodation worked out at $5 per night.

Easy to set up

This has been purchased for our teenager to take to camp. We have trialed it at home and love the ease with which it is set up. Plenty of room and perfect for our requirements. Delivery was fast and it is exactly as advertised.

extra comfort off the ground

I'm a bigger bloke, so it wasn't too bad, would get a bit clastaphobic if I spent too much time in it. Quick to set up and use and was off the ground which is nice

Comfort, off the ground

I bought two, to accommodate teenagers. As a 72 year-old bloke I didn't want a difficult set up and the Easy Fold Stretchers proved the perfect answer; up in seconds and with a light mattress, very comfortable. They need to be protected from rainwater as the pooling issue is real but, with the help of a tarp, that's not too difficult.

Easy - few issues but good.

Like everyone, I struggled to get it back in bag. We have two, and one is sitting in the shed still needing to be battled with to get in the bag. We found them really easy to set up and very comfortable (we each have a sleep mat). I found it very snug and warm - love sleeping in it.
On our last night camping recently, forecast was for a bit of rain so I put small tarps over each and secured them in a creative way. Tents were dry and warm.
Downside - as someone else has said, zips are a bit difficult to manage once you're in (mostly side ones).
Biggest downside - get them up so quick that
I then feel obliged to go help others!!
My son (11 yrs) and I love them. Im a 50 year old not slim female and found them incredibly easy and comfortable.

Easy Fold Stretcher Tent

Pegs are crap had to purchase decent strength pegs.

Russ and Sue

We love our Stretcher tents. We have taken them up to the Cape as well as the Vic High Country. Being off the ground makes it easy to get in and out.
A few minor issues. Being older it is hard to put the stretchers back in their bag. Especially with arthritic hands. Its a two man job for us.
If it rains the guy ropes MUST be in place and tight otherwise you get water pooling at the foot of the bed. We had to put seam seal on the seams if the fly.
Condensation is a problem in cold regions.
Still love them.

Awning lenght1 answer

And the lenght of the said awning, again, plz? (Can't be 12 cm.)

- Auchenflower(1 month ago)

Hi Tom,

The awning on this stretcher tent is 125cm long, and 70cm wide.

I understand where I went wrong in the previous answer, I meant to type '125cm', and left off the '5' and I misread your question before about the poles - so I'm totally at fault here! Again, my sincere apologies Tom.

- Snowys(1 month ago)

Emily1 answer

The picture here clearly shows two poles supporting the awning... are they not included? Also, 12 cm long doesn't sound right for the lenght of the awning... pls verify.

- Auchenflower(1 month ago)

Hi Tom,

I've just answered your other query below - but we have checked, and yes it does indeed come with awning poles (my sincere apologies). And the Oztent 190cm Alloy Pole is definitely 112cm long, not 12cm.

- Snowys(1 month ago)

Emily1 answer

Thank, but 12cm long doesn't sound right... Also, the awning in the picture clearly shows two poles included. Pls verify.

- Auchenflower(1 month ago)

G'day Tom,

Regarding your previous question, the Oztent 190cm Alloy Poles have a minimum length of 112cm.

We've opened one on the Easy Fold Stretcher Tents up in the warehouse and looked inside the bag and it turns out the Easy Fold Stretcher Tent does come with awning poles included!

It doesn't say that the poles are included in the box, or on Oztrail's website so we were always under the impression that it didn't - so I am so sorry about that confusion Tom. The good news is that you won't have to buy awning poles separately though!

- Snowys(1 month ago)

'Gidday3 answers

1) How long is the Awning (assume 90+ cm wide?), pls? 2) Can you supply two additional poles to match? 3) Does the whole thing need pegging-down? 4) In stock? In Brisbane..? Cheers!

- Auchenflower/BNE(1 month ago)

G'day Tom,

I've just got my tape measure out and checked with the display model, and I found that the awning is 12cm long, and 70cm wide.

This stretcher tent doesn't come with awning poles included, so as the front of the stretcher is 140cm high it looks like the Oztent Alloy Pole in the 190cm size (minimum size is 112cm) is your best bet to use with the Easy Fold.

The Easy Fold comes with one guy rope at the back, and two at the front for securing it down. We do currently have stock, but at this time we are still just operating out of Adelaide.

*EDIT* This stretcher tent comes with awning poles, and is 125cm long, not 12cm. My Apologies for the confusion.

- Snowys(1 month ago)

Whar's an "Easy Fold", pls?

- Auchenflower(1 month ago)

Hi Tom,

When I wrote 'Easy Fold' I was just abbreviating the product name - the Easy Fold Stretcher Tent. I hope that clears that up!

Condensation1 answer

Does the fly sit out from the inner? looking to minimise/prevent condensation in cold weather camping

- Brisbane(1 month ago)

G'day JB,

The fly does sit away from the inner on the Easy Fold Stretcher Tents. There's a reasonable amount of space either side and loads of space above your head, also with the dual doors you can get great cross flow ventilation happening so you shouldn't have many issues with condensation.

Stability?1 answer

Hi, wondering how stable the stretcher tent is? I have a friend who has difficulty with knees etc, will the tent be fairly stable to allow to get in and out OK. Thanks

- NSW, Oak Flats(3 months ago)

G'day Sue,

The Oztrail Easy Fold Stretcher Tent is very stable. Naturally, there isn't a huge amount of room to manoeuvre within the stretcher tent, but in terms of stability when set up and getting in and out, it should be fine for your friend.

when does the sale end1 answer

when does the sale end

- vic tongala(7 months ago)

G'day Hunter,

These are our best prices for which we offer every day of the year. The only times prices will fluctuate is in line with our buy price, but you can be assured that you'll never see these at full retail price at Snowys.

what is the folded up size1 answer

- kuraby(1 year ago)
Hi Max, packed up this stretcher tent measures roughly 100 x 16 x 16 cm. This can depend on how meticulously you fold it up but it's a pretty good indication.

Will it fold with bedding inside?1 answer

I am thinking of moving from a swag to this. At the moment I set up the swag with all my bedding in it before I leave home and then just unroll the swag when I arrive with sleeping bag and pillow already to go. Can I do the same with this or do I have to carry it all seperate till I get there? Thanks

- Wagga Wagga(1 year ago)
I recommend keeping your bedding separate Thomas. It won't fold very well with the bedding inside, and may cause problems with stress on the feame or fabrics getting pinched. This is one of the great things with swags.

stretcher tent3 answers

Hi guys we are loooking to buy three of these for a trip on the CSR what mattress would you recommend to go with it, if any? We are all in our late sixties and like the idea of not having to be on the ground!

- Waikanae NZ(2 years ago)
Hi Pete, the Explore Planet Earth Sim Camper F60 would be a good option (search product code 47320 on our website). It is slightly narrower than the stretcher tent, self inflating, finished off with quality components and won't add too much bulk to your kit. There are thicker options, but you wouldn't need it in this tent. Just FYI, I notice you are in NZ and we don't deliver there unfortunately, if you have friends in Australia, we can deliver to them though.
- Snowys(2 years ago)

Thanks for that Ben, We will be buying a lot of stuff from you in late July, including three stretcher tents, which i see are not available til late June. We will be departing from adelaide, so i guess we could pick stuff up there which you might hold for us? We leave for the CSR and Anne Beadell highway around 3 August Cheers and thanks peter

- Waikanae NZ(2 years ago)
That won't be a problem Pete. You would be best calling us to place your order if you want us to hold it, then we can process it differently and keep it aside ready for pick up. Let us know when you're ready and we'll sort it out for you.

Is it comfortable to sleep in & how long does it take to set up, please? Also, Is there a cloth door on the sleeping area or just the flywire & the extension flap?2 answers

My picture is difficult to see details clearly. Is it wind-tight and cosy?

- Kambalda West(2 years ago)
Hi Carol. These tents are becoming very popular, and we have had no reports of a bad nights sleep to date. You can increase comfort levels by adding an extra mattress if you wish, but the base already has some padding/insulation. Set up time is 5-10 mins, quicker once you have some practice under your belt. The inner tent has both mesh and nylon closures over the doors, and the fly then goes over the top of that. It will reliably protect you from wind and rain, and with the right bedding, you can create a cosy environment for you to rest in.
- Snowys(2 years ago)

Comfortable yes . Depends on your mattress. The inside is all fly wire then external cover or fly, no extra cover at door. Once you know how to erect, 5 mins max. If windy during day needs to be peged down at night I hope it does not blow away. Have used stretcher tent a dozen times. So far so good
