The Easy Fold Stretcher Tent from Oztrail takes everything you love from traditional outdoor shelters - the elevation of a stretcher, the spacious head height of a tent and the cosiness of a swag and combines it into one magnificent package.
You won’t even have to spend time setting up your sleeping quarters because this shelter folds out with no assembly required. All you need to do is chuck your mattress, sleeping bag and pillow inside and you’ll be good to go. The fabric is treated to repel water, and the seams of the fly are taped so once it’s properly set up you’ll stay dry all night.
With three doors you’ll never feel trapped in, and you can just roll out of bed easily no matter how sore you are from yesterday’s energetic adventure. In good weather you can use it without the fly, and with the mesh roof you’ll be able to fall asleep while looking at the stars.
I'm a bigger bloke, so it wasn't too bad, would get a bit clastaphobic if I spent too much time in it. Quick to set up and use and was off the ground which is nice
I bought two, to accommodate teenagers. As a 72 year-old bloke I didn't want a difficult set up and the Easy Fold Stretchers proved the perfect answer; up in seconds and with a light mattress, very comfortable. They need to be protected from rainwater as the pooling issue is real but, with the help of a tarp, that's not too difficult.
Like everyone, I struggled to get it back in bag. We have two, and one is sitting in the shed still needing to be battled with to get in the bag. We found them really easy to set up and very comfortable (we each have a sleep mat). I found it very snug and warm - love sleeping in it.
On our last night camping recently, forecast was for a bit of rain so I put small tarps over each and secured them in a creative way. Tents were dry and warm.
Downside - as someone else has said, zips are a bit difficult to manage once you're in (mostly side ones).
Biggest downside - get them up so quick that
I then feel obliged to go help others!!
My son (11 yrs) and I love them. Im a 50 year old not slim female and found them incredibly easy and comfortable.
Used in the rain over Easter fine no leaks. inserted swap inside
.Downside zips run from foot end and difficult to zip up when your inside.
Pegs are crap had to purchase decent strength pegs.
Carry bag very tight to get in back in after use.
We love our Stretcher tents. We have taken them up to the Cape as well as the Vic High Country. Being off the ground makes it easy to get in and out.
A few minor issues. Being older it is hard to put the stretchers back in their bag. Especially with arthritic hands. Its a two man job for us.
If it rains the guy ropes MUST be in place and tight otherwise you get water pooling at the foot of the bed. We had to put seam seal on the seams if the fly.
Condensation is a problem in cold regions.
Still love them.
I'm a 65y/o single female. I have a small hatchback car and my camping gear had to be easy, small and light enough for me to set up and breakdown by myself. I used the stretcher tent with a self-inflating mattress and a light sleeping bag. I love the stretcher tent - quick and easy set up. I simply gave up on trying to get the frame and the fly back into the carrier bag. It didn't fit - the bag is too small. So, packed up the fly with other tarps. PERFORMANCE IN THE WET: Perhaps I'm doing something wrong. Rain water pools at the foot end. The more it rains, the bigger the pool of water. The nylon stretches and becomes a bucket. Waking up with wet feet, and a wet sleeping bag in the dark hours of the night was enough for me. If there was the slightest chance of rain I made sure I rigged an awning and had the stretcher tent protected - top to toe.! Also internal condensation created very muggy and dampish conditions inside. Otherwise it was comfortable and I had a great trip. CAMPERS BEST FRIENDS: A selection of tarps, occy straps, clamps and sharpened tent pegs lol.Thanks.
VERY GOOD TO SET UP. I FINE IT VERY GOOD TO SLEEP IN . IAM 58 & IT SO EASY TO WORK WITH . THE BAG YOU PUT THE TENT IN IS VERY TIGHT & THE ZIPPER RIPPED APART .
Used it for the first time this weekend at a festival up in the Riverland. It blew a gale all weekend, so it was a good test. I fitted my thermo-rest mattress out of my old swag to the base and a sleeping bag. Really warm and comforfable to sleep in, a great piece of kit! Found fitting the fly a bit tricky but I reckon it will become easier after a few more attempts at it.
Just spent the weekend in the Flinders Ranges SA. Rained heavily for 12 hours and I remained warm and dry. I use a oztrail self inflating mattress under me for added comfort and warmth.I am 6 foot 4 inches and had no problem fitting. Some condensation after waking up but nothing unusual. Zips could be better but other than this cannot fault it. Very impressed for the price.Easy to put up and pack down. Love the pockets inside for holding personal items Delivery was super fast
Thanks for the write up George! Really glad to hear you slept through that torrential downpour we copped. Great to know the stretcher tent can handle such conditions too. Laine :)
Snowys service: 5 stars. What a delight to deal with knowledgeable, polite and efficient staff! Thank you, Snowys.
Delivery: 1. No delivery charge- wow! 2. It arrived exactly as described, to my door within 5 days of ordering (and on a Saturday) to small rural village in WA. 5*
Product: exactly as described. Also: 1) the carry bag is heavy duty nylon canvas - which is a plus - and got everything back into the bag! That alone is worth 5*. Looking fwd to trialling in the bush. Perfect.
when does the sale end
These are our best prices for which we offer every day of the year. The only times prices will fluctuate is in line with our buy price, but you can be assured that you'll never see these at full retail price at Snowys.
I am thinking of moving from a swag to this. At the moment I set up the swag with all my bedding in it before I leave home and then just unroll the swag when I arrive with sleeping bag and pillow already to go. Can I do the same with this or do I have to carry it all seperate till I get there? Thanks
Hi guys we are loooking to buy three of these for a trip on the CSR what mattress would you recommend to go with it, if any? We are all in our late sixties and like the idea of not having to be on the ground!
Thanks for that Ben, We will be buying a lot of stuff from you in late July, including three stretcher tents, which i see are not available til late June. We will be departing from adelaide, so i guess we could pick stuff up there which you might hold for us? We leave for the CSR and Anne Beadell highway around 3 August Cheers and thanks peter
My picture is difficult to see details clearly. Is it wind-tight and cosy?
Comfortable yes . Depends on your mattress. The inside is all fly wire then external cover or fly, no extra cover at door. Once you know how to erect, 5 mins max. If windy during day needs to be peged down at night I hope it does not blow away. Have used stretcher tent a dozen times. So far so good
