recharging issue1 answer
i havent used my latern in a while. the led is green but when i try to switch on nothing. do the batteries need replacing
rob - capalaba(9 years ago)
G'day Rob,Â
As the Nova Max 400 uses a lead acid battery, because you haven't used it in a while the battery is going to need a little boost.Â
We'd recommend charging it for at least 2-3 days, if not a little longer even if the light says it's fully charged as this should bring your battery back up to full strength.
If after that the battery is still giving you trouble, then give us a buzz on 1300 914 007 and we'll try and find another solution.Â

How long does it take to charge from new?1 answer
I have had mine brand new on a charger for over 20 hours and it still not charged. I bought it Friday. Does that mean there is something wrong with it?
Brad - Boyd(9 years ago)
Hi Brad, Primus state the recharge time for this lantern to be 15 hours, although of course that could vary depending on the situation. Considering that yours is brand new and has not charged in 20 hours, unfortunately it does sound as though it's probably faulty.
I'm sorry that you're having this trouble. Could you please bring the lantern back in to the store for us to look at. We don't have any left in stock at the moment, but we can arrange to exchange it if you're able to wait for some more to come in, or we may have a different lantern that will do the job for you.

Can I purchase a replace battery or is it cheaper to buy a new lantern?
Charles - Adelaide(9 years ago)
Hi Charles, I had to look into this for you, and it turns out you can replace the battery. If you open the base (just give it a twist) there are four small phillips head screws that when removed allow access to the battery. It is a standard 6 V battery which we have sold in the past, but a quicker solution would be to check out Battery World or Jaycar, they would be likely to have this in stock.
Ben - Snowys(9 years ago)
Hi, would it be possible to know the type of replacement battery I should have just in case?
Raf - Stirling(9 years ago)
It's a relatively standard 6V 4.5Ah battery Raf, they seem to have different part numbers but usually end in 645 (i,e, XX645). Their appearance is pretty much the same across all makes, being a black box approximately 10 x 5 x 7 cm. Most battery supply places will be able to help you out.

Do you sell replacement LED?1 answer
David - MOUNT PLEASANT, SA(10 years ago)
Hi David, you can't and won't need to replace the LED in this lantern. If the LED stops working, then it is more than likely something else that has failed within the lantern. The general life expectancy of an LED is something like 50,000 hours, so if you use it for 4 hours a night, you'll get about 12500 nights of camping in before the LED gives up!
