When you’ve driven all day and the sun is starting to set, and a frosty breeze is blowing – the last thing on your priority list is to spend ages setting up your shelter for the night.
The Darche Xtender allows you to set your shelter set up right next to your vehicle without the need for any fuss. Just attach the Xtender 2 to your awning, or unzip it to leave it there while you go about your adventure. The gusset window at the rear will give you the ventilation you need, while the 1500 mm waterhead rated fabric will protect you from the elements.
The detachable fly will also give you that extra protection that you need if the weather turns sour, or for warmer days leave it off for more airflow inside your tent. The Xtender 2 is the perfect shelter to take fishing, camping, hunting or touring for an no-fuss sleep in the great outdoors.
Bought this tent a month ago and just came back from a 2 week camping trip. We found it very easy to put up with or without attaching to awning. It only takes a few minutes with 2 people to put up on awning a little longer when on its own! We found once pegged out and bars are on pull the rope and peg the back then extend side poles. We also unattached tent from awning and left it self standing while we used our vehicle for the day but make sure you place markers where your tyres are so you can return to same spot when reattaching your tent. It is very well made and the floor is very good quality and quite thick but we did put a tarp underneath so it was easy to pack up when the ground was wet so it could be pack back into the bag which by the way is a really good size and easy to get back into to. Good room inside tent pleased we decided on the extra room we had a double blow up bed and still had room on both sides to put things and walk around . The only thing we did find was the pegs weren't real good so we changed to stronger ones as they bent on some hard ground. Oh and the other thing we had to watch the zip around the door so it didn't catch on the tent. We were highly impressed as we do own a camping trailer but found the tent just as easy. We free camped a lot so we had many Rv travellers wanting to have a look as they were impressed! My partner and I are in our early fifties so I found the tent not heavy and bulky and very easy to move ,carry and lift. Can't wait to use again .
I have a iron man 2m x2.5 just want to know if it will attach to it
I, unfortunately, can't answer your question with confidence as we don't stock the Ironman Awning range, so I can't be sure if the track in your awning is compatible. This may be a question you need to raise with Ironman just to double check.
We have recently returned from a 12K klms trip to Darwin via the Gulf and return thru the Channel Country and spent over 85% of the time living out of a 9 yr old Coleman Overlander 4V , used in a similar configuration to the Extender unit. The Coleman has served us well but now showing signs of age, so an upgrade is needed. We are looking for something simple and quick to erect while providing standing room inside. We have an awning which would suit the Extender. My only reservation is the sloping headroom at the rear, and was this a restriction in useable space. Also the Coleman packs down to a bag about 650mm x 290mm round including poles and pegs. Any help and advice would go a long way in our decision making.
we have an awning 2.5 wide. we dont have the zip that attaches to awning.
The connection piece comes included with the Darche Xtender 2.5 Awning Tent. It attaches to your awning through a rope track that slots in at the front of your awning and the zip is then attached to this connection piece.
I was noticing on both Darche tents fits to 2m awning but one tent is 2.5w just wondering if that's a mistake?
Firstly, thanks for pointing out that our website should state that the Darche Xtender 2.5 Awning Tent can fit a 2.5m awning. We'll update that now.
Secondly, it is still possible to attach the Darche Xtender 2.5 Awning Tent to a 2m awning. The tent attaches through a sleeve that runs along the track of the awning and zips onto the tent. From our understanding, if you have a 2m awning, there would be a small amount of overhang from the sleeve at either end. However, as the tent can stand alone, this doesn't affect the structure of the tent in any way as the ridgepole backs up against the awning.
Ideally, a 2.5m awning would be ideal with the Xtender 2.5 Awning Tent, likewise, a 2m awning would be ideal with a Xtender 2 Awning Tent, but if you already have a 2m awning, you'll be able to get around this with the Xtender 2.5 Awning Tent.
Hi there, I too would love to see a video on the setup and features of the Darche Xtender as I am shopping it against the OZ tent RV4, cheers.
Thanks for your request. I will let the appropriate people know that there is interest in a video for this awning tent. Keep your eyes on the web for further updates!
Hi Guys! Can we possibly get a Youtube video popped together on this one? There's nothing online anywhere. Even Darche doesn't have video together on this one. It a big ask for you guys. but it would just give me more confidence in buying it online.
I'll see what we can do - I'll pop an email across to the team and see if they can get one together. It might take a little while to be posted but we always love to be the first at everything.
