When you’ve driven all day and the sun is starting to set, and a frosty breeze is blowing – the last thing on your priority list is to spend ages setting up your shelter for the night.
The Darche Xtender allows you to set your shelter set up right next to your vehicle without the need for any fuss. Just attach the Xtender 2 to your awning or unzip it to leave it there while you go about your adventure. The gusset window at the rear will give you the ventilation you need, while the 1500 mm waterhead rated fabric will protect you from the elements.
The detachable fly will also give you that extra protection that you need if the weather turns sour, or for warmer days leave it off for more airflow inside your tent. The Xtender 2 is the perfect shelter to take fishing, camping, hunting or touring for a fuss-free sleep in the great outdoors.
Does this awning tent come with poles required to use its own awning (ie what is also the fly/ when you are not attaching it to a car awning)?
Hannah - Pemberton, WA(5 years ago)
G'day Hannah,
Thanks for your enquiry. The Darche Xtender 2 Awning Tent does not come with the awning poles, I'm sorry to say. You can find the OZtrail Awning Pole Set separately here.

How long does this take to set up?1 answer
What is the set up like for this tent? Approx. how long does it take? Can I person on their own set it up? Thanks
Patti - Hobart(5 years ago)
G'day Patti,
The Xtender 2 Awning will only take a few minutes to set up once you know what you're doing. One person will be able to set this up with no worries.

How do you erect it as a stand-alone tent1 answer
The video show the tent being attached to the awning and then the poles inserted afterwards. If erecting standalone how will the front poles stay up if not supported by an awning? A separate video showing it being erected standalone would be useful.
Neil - Ashgrove(5 years ago)
G'day Neil,
Thanks for the question, I'm not 100% sure which Xtender 2 Awning Tent video you're referring to, as the video we've got on the product page doesn't show the tent being set up. We do have a Darche produced video on our youtube channel that shows the tent being set up after the front is attached to the awning. Set up is the same whether you have it attached to an awning or standalone. The larger pole at the front is put into place and then once the rear pole is popped into the holding pins with the legs extended and pegged out the tent will stay up by itself.

Set up without an awning1 answer
Hello, I don't own an awning. Can I still use this tent? Or do I need it to aid set up?
Jayson - Healsville(5 years ago)
No, you don't need an awning to use this tent, Jayson. The Darche Xtender tents are superbly versatile in this respect, they can be set up as a freestanding tent and actually include their own removable front awning. You will still get the awning connector with the tent, which essentially means you can attach it in a weatherproof manner to any awning, caravan or 4WD with a sail/rope track, but in your case, you just won't need to use it.

Awning compatibility1 answer
Hi. Wondering if this tent is compatible with a 2m rhino rack sunseeker awning? Thanks
Ollie - Hobart(5 years ago)
G'day Ollie,
It's a hard one to offer any guarantees on mate! Awning tracks are supposed to be a universal size but without knowing those specifically used on the Rhino Rack Sunseeker, I'm reluctant to say for sure that the rope on the Xtender 2 Tent will fit through the track on your Sunseeker. Images 7 & 8 offer a pretty good visual for the rope fitting into the Darche awning track so using that as a guide, maybe it might help to know if it'll work for you..?

Will the xtender zip on to a darche 270 awning where the walls zip on?1 answer
Will the xtender tent zip onto a darche 270 awning in place of a zip on wall?
Brad - Mango Hill(5 years ago)
This won't work, unfortunately, Brad. From my experience, I don't think the zippers are compatible between the tent and the awning, and the connector only facilitates a sail track connection. I called to get a second opinion from our Darche rep who said it was something they looked into but also came to the conclusion that it wouldn't work, he just couldn't recall on the spot the exact reasoning why.

Fly sheet needed to stay waterproof?1 answer
Hello,
Great video it explains a lot. Do you need the fly sheet pulled back over the tent instead of being used as an awning to stay waterproof?
Jason - Melbourne(5 years ago)
G'day Jason,
Thanks mate, the team put a lot of effort into presenting useful content so I'll pass your compliment on to them. In regards to the tent, it'll still be plenty waterproof with the fly being used as an awning so you'll be fine in any weather.

Compatability with Darche Mozzie Annex1 answer
Hi there, I am just wondering it is possible for this tent to be attached to the awning while using the Darche Mozzie Annex? I have the Darche Eclipse awning.
Gavin - Mallacoota(6 years ago)
G'day Gavin,
I've just spoken to Darche and unfortunately, you can't use the Mozzie Annex and the Xtender 2 Awning Tent at the same time due to the single sail track on the awning. This is required for fixing both of those accessories so only 1 can be used at a time.

Attach to side of awning rather than front?1 answer
Can the tent be attached to the side of the awning (directly next to vehicle) or does it need to be attached to the front. Thinking about potential space issues with it needing to be an extension to the awning.
Jason - Adelaide(6 years ago)
G'day Jason,
Unfortunately, you can't attach the Darche Xtender 2 Awning Tent to the side of the awning because there aren't the necessary zips and connections on the side to make it work.

Awning required?1 answer
Is it possible to use this tent without attaching it to an awning at all, ie strapping it straight onto the car? I am trying to find a 3-4 man tent that is compatible with a VW camper van - ie create some undercover space in the event of rain - but not interested in a proper awning.
Jamie Bakewell - Curl Curl(6 years ago)
G'day Jamie,
The Darche Xtender 2 tent can be used as a freestanding shelter. However, if you look at the 7th image listed on our product page, you can see how it can attach to an awning with a sail track. Without this attachment, there will be a gap between the tent and the vehicle. So to answer your question, it is possible, but you would need to work out how it would attach to your vehicle to close this gap.

Compatible with Foxwing?1 answer
The Foxwing does not have a sail track, but zips. Will the Xtender attach to the zips of the Foxwing?
I also have the Oztent awning connector...would that work? Thx
Andrew - 3220(6 years ago)
G'day Andrew,
Unfortunately, the Darche Xtender 2 Awning Tent isn't compatible with the Foxwing, they are made with different style zips.

Compatible With All Awnings?1 answer
Do you have to have the Darche awning or will this tent attach to any (most) awnings? Also, can it be used without an awning?
Charlie - South Yarra(6 years ago)
G'day Charlie,
Ideally - yes. But it all depends on the track on your awning and whether the rope of the Darche Awning Xtender 2 Tent will fit through that track. These tracks are supposed to be a universal size, but from time to time, we find out that it's not the case and there is no real way on determining what 'track'size it is. What brand awning do you have? I can do some further research for you if you'd like?

Does the adaptor come with the tent or awning1 answer
What price is it for an awning that matches the tent.
Rob - Port Hedland(7 years ago)
G'day Rob,
Can you clarify by what you mean when referring to an 'adapter'?
You can find the Darche Eclipse 2.0 Awning listed on our website here. I notice however that you're in Port Headland and unfortunately, the awnings cannot be shipped, only picked up from our store in Adelaide.
