Releases toxic formaldehyde 1 answer

The label on the back of the bottle states "Releases formaldehyde". How is something that releases a toxic chem safe and environmentally friendly?

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you Daniel - we've been waiting on further information from Sea to Summit.
They've provided the following:

"Wilderness Wash is in the process of being reformulated. The updated formulation will use an alternative preservative that does not release formaldehyde.

We take the environmental impact of our products seriously. Wilderness Wash and Trek & Travel Soaps will comply with cosmetic regulations in the EU, UK, US, Canada, and Australia. The formulation has been tested to meet OECD 301B biodegradability standards. This means it is designed to break down safely in the environment when used as directed, aligning with Leave No Trace principles."
