Rubber tech tips Vs Rubber tip covers1 answer

Hi, do you recommend these rubber tech tips or the BD rubber tip protectors for use on bush tracks, fire trails, the occasional path, and probably a Tassie walking trip? I have a new pair of women's Black Diamond Trail walking poles that come standard with the carbide tech tips. Do the rubber tips that just fit over the carbide ones pull off easily, say in muddy trails? Do the rubber tips vs the rubber tech tips have more shock-dampening ability? Thanks for your advice.

G'day KS,

The Black Diamond Tech Tip - Rubber will fit a range of Black Diamond poles by fitting into the standard screw already there for the carbide tips. These are designed to fit all 2016 and later models (not including the Trail Back, which are different to the Women's Trail Poles you have). The Trekking Pole Tip Protectors will slide over the end for an easier changeover, but they are probably slightly less durable than the screw in style. The Rubber will give you a degree of shock-dampening, but I wouldn't say it will be overly prominent.

Hi Alan, these work with all 2012 and later trekking poles as well as all Z-Poles. If you purchased your poles recently, then these will be suitable. If they are an older model then please get in touch so we can grab some details and follow up something suitable for you.

I've had a look through our supplier catalogue, and on the Black Diamond website and I can't find any mention of Trail Back Rubber Tips, so as far as we know they don't make any.

We do however have the Leki Rubber Tips, which are universal so you may want to have a look at those instead.
