Quick to pitch, with a dark interior so that you can sleep through those early morning sunrises – the Speedy Blackhole 4 from Explore Planet Earth is ideal for sheltering a group on a shorter getaway or festival trip.
This tent feature’s EPE’s Speedy frame which is a fly, floor and inner that pitch together. You just take it out of its bag, pop it out, peg and guy it out and you’re done! On top of that, they’ve added the Blackhole feature which is a black fly and inner which helps block out the sunshine for easier sleep-ins and also keeps your tent cooler in the day. The Speedy 4 has a fly with a 3000mm PU coating to keep out the rain, fully taped seams to prevent leaks plus No-See-Um mesh side windows for ventilation.
Inside the tent, there are an integrated Intents LED lighting system, so all you need do is hook it up to a separate standard USB power bank or USB battery adapter (AA batteries not included) for illumination. You can also easy stash smaller items in the interior accessory pockets so you’ll never lose track of your keys, headtorch or phone again. Pack the Speedy Blackhole 4 from Explore Planet Earth so that you sleep longer on your next trip away.
Is there anywhere to hang a tent fan??
Not really, Milica, there are small plastic rings that you can hand a small lantern from but the frame in these tents isn't really strong enough to support a fan. You'd be best using a fan that stoor upright on the floor. ~ Ben
What size groundsheet would you recommend?
G'day Matt,
That completely depends on personal preference, the footprint is 270L x 265W cm, so something close to that size but bear in mind that because it has a round base, you'll need to be tent pegging through the mesh.
If you want additional length at the doorway so you have a verandah, just add the length you want there to the above dimensions.
What would be the best size power bank to run the lights in this tent?
G'day Suzi,
The power consumption of these lights is negligible, and the size power bank you go with depends on how many nights you'll be camping for, and if you will be intending to re-charge your power bank during the day at all.
Something like a 5,000mAh power pack should see you right for a couple of nights.
Hi guys, Ca you confirm if the Zempire Monstamat Twin Camp Mat will fit. It has listed dimensions of 201Lx132W but the ends of this tent are curved and dont look like it would fit.
G'day John,
I've just tested this one out for you instore, and it fits no problem.
Hi, would my queensize airbed fit into this tent? Dimensions: 203 x 152 x 25 (L x W x H)
G'day Tina,
Yes, you should be able to fit this mattress. We've given it a go with the Coleman Queen Airbed and that fits well. Your mattress is 5cm longer and 5cm thicker, but we don't think that will cause any issues.
Hey, I have 2 Stretchers I like to use as beds (2.05L x 0.8W x 0.4H), I’m wondering would both fit due to curve of the tent?
G'day Marko,
The Blackhole 4 Tent isn't really suited to use with stretchers as the sides of the tent curve up quite a bit, and the overall height is only 120cm at the centre. The Blackhole 4 Tent is designed for use with floor-based mattresses.
Will 2 Exped Megamat 10 LXW Camp Mat fit in this tent?
G'day Kerrin,
Yes, you can fit two of the Exped Megamat 10LXW mattresses into the Blackhole 4 Tent.
Hi, I know this tent has curve in the edge, not sure if I can put my mattresses in: - Mattress 1, 195cm * 150cm - Mattress 2, 185cm * 80cm Many thanks, Cook
G'day Cook,
You should be able to fit Mattress 1 in the tent, but not both mattress 1 & 2. Have a look at this blog which should help. You can base the size on the Oztent Cicarar 3.0 4P
Does the blackhole 4 have a back entrance or a back window?
There is a vent situated at the top of the tent to the rear, Tony, but there is only one access point for the Speedy Blackhole tents.
Other than the blackout feature of this tent are there any other new upgrades from the original speedy tents? New pockets etc? Can you also confirm the internal size of the new version as I think the one on the site is the older size. Thank you
The size, set-up and dimensions are all pretty much the same as the old versions, Jana, the only upgrades were the blackened fabrics and the addition of a lighting system.
