Old DMH Trek Lite Huon tent1 answer
Need to reseal all seams, floor, and fly on my old DMH Trek Lite Huon tent. Unsure what materials the different parts of the tent are made out of. Any suggestions for the following products I've found on your website: Seam Sealing - Seam Grip SIL or Seam Grip WP or bottle of tent seal sealant? Floor and Fly - Tent Fabric Sealant? And possible number of bottles/tubes required to do the whole tent? Thanks
Renee - Bencubbin, WA (2 weeks ago)
G'day Renee,
The seam sealer will do the trick with the seams - but theres no way to rewaterproof a fly or a floor sorry. The products you've mentioned are generally ok for small spot treatments, but once the original waterproof coating starts wearing away in full, theres little you can do to get it back to being reliably waterproof.
You'll need some of the Nikwax Tent & Solar spray for the outside of the fly, and you'll need 3-4 bottles of the Floor & Fly for full coverage. You'll likely want to do the inner and outer of the floor aswell, and add a groundsheet into your kit for future trips. Depending on how many seams you have, you'll want 2-3 bottles of the seam sealer.

Paul - Stafford Heights(4 years ago)
G'day Paul,
Gear Aid makes just one product for use on Silicone Tents. We've named it using Gear Aids current packaging and name which is Seam Grip SIL Silicone Tent Sealant, however in the past, it has been labelled and referred to as Sil net.
