Does the job nicely

Took it camping for a week, great addition to the tent. Easy to put up and pack away gets easier the more we did it. The service from Snowy's was fabulous, Screen Dome arrived when expected 3 days after ordering and saved money

So far, so good.

We took it down the park on Sunday afternoon for a trial run. After the first attempt I think it will take about 10 or 15 minutes to set up. Looks to be reasonably well made, although it doesn't block out the sun completely. We sat in it and had a couple of drinks and overall we are pretty happy with the purchase. It's light and easy to carry and should be a worthwhile addition to our camping gear. My wife likes it, and as they say, happy wife, happy life!

Not built to last

Nice tent, but after using it for two weeks on holiday (and putting it up and down a few times), the fabric already starts to rip and the seams that hold the rooftop side poles are tearing. They can't seem to take the tension of the poles inside them.

Response from Snowys Mar 08 2016

G'day Josh, thanks for contacting us about this issue. This model (along with a few others) has been known for having some tight spots around the pole inserts. The tough polyester fabric is expected to overcome any threat of tearing, so we're sorry that yours has let you down. If you could please give us a call on 1300 914 007, we'd like to do everything we can to fix the issue.

Good product, suited my purpose perfectly

Very happy overall. Quick to set up (even though instructions were not 100% accurate). Good quality overall. Most importantly it suits my purpose for keeping flies out and some sun protection. Comfortably seats 4 people (and the dog) incl. a small table and some cooking equipment on a second table. Not sure it will handle rain too well.

If the side awnings are used as wind protectors, do they zip or attach by velcro1 answers

- PERTH, WA(7 months ago)
G'day John - The panels are sewn in at the top and zip down the sides. When you don't need them, they can be rolled up and hooked at the top. Hope that helps. Cheers, Paul

Does only one of the flyscreen walls open up to walk through?1 answers

So you are unable to walk through the other fly screen walls and put your tent under one of the awnings?

- Thirroul(8 months ago)
There are actually two zippered doorways Shae, one on each side, you just can't see it in the picture.

so you can turn all 4 walls into awnings?1 answers

Also, with the 4 walls down do you think it would be pretty waterproof? Also, what is roof dimensions incase i need a tarp to waterproof it.

- Thirroul(8 months ago)
That's right Shae, all four sides can be extended as awnings. With all four walls zipped closed this screen dome will offer some water resistance, but Oztrail make no claims about it being waterproof so I don't recommend relying on it for wet weather. I don't have roof dimensions nor do we have one set up to check for you sorry. Given the floor dimensions are 335cm x 335 cm I would allow about 300 x 300 for the roof but it would be more beneficial to have a tarp that covered the whole shelter.

can i get more poles?1 answers

to put more walls up?

- THIRROUL, NSW(8 months ago)
Sure can Shae, we have poles available on our website under the 'Tents & Shelters' category. The Oztrail Galvanised Extension Pole is a good value option.

if it isnt waterproof can you not use it as a tent?1 answers

I had one that looked like this years ago that was like this but waterproof, any idea what it was? this was close to ten years ago but looked exactly like this but brillaintly waterproof.

- thirroul(8 months ago)
I'm not sure what you would have had Shae, if it was 10 years ago then there is a good chance that the tent has been superseded or discontinued. This tent is designed mainly for shade and wind protection, it will keep out a little bit of water but I wouldn't depend on it. If you want a waterproof screen dome have a look at the Oztent Screen houses (2 models item codes 41949 & 42401), these have waterproof tops and sides that can be purchased separately.

is the floor attached to to dome1 answers

looking for a screen house with an attached floor

- MELBOURNE, VIC(10 months ago)
The floor is a heavy duty PE bucket floor Margaret and it is sewn into/onto the shelter. It will keep both moisture and insects out.

Would like to order one, is an extra outside cover available, rainproof?1 answers

- Mudgeeraba, Gold Coast(1 year ago)
Unfortunately there is no additional fly available to make this product waterproof.

What is approximate setup time?1 answers

This would suit our purpose however we were after a quick setup. The Coleman Instant Up screen shelter with the awnings is no longer available so this the next alternative.

- RATHMINES, NSW(1 year ago)
Hi Peter, Its much easier to erect with two people which takes around 10-15 minutes however you should always allow a bit longer for the first time so roughly 20-25 minutes.

Can you buy a waterproof fly to go over the screen dome combo, like you get with a tent?1 answers

- Lakehaven(1 year ago)
Hi Marea, unfortunately there isn't a separate flysheet available for these. It would give you a little bit of rain protection with the awnings rolled down, but I don't recommend relying on it for long periods.

how water resitant 1 answers

hi roughly how wide the awning and height when set up , and poles are they extendable or set at one height thank you

- BURTON, SA(1 year ago)
Hi Steve, Oztrail make no waterproof/water resistant claims for this screen dome, so I would not rely on it in the rain. I don't have one of these on display at the moment, but we can work out an approximate length for the awning. The maximum internal height is 230cm, which would make the doors roughly 180 - 200cm high. Given the door covers extend as awnings, the length of the awning would also be roughly 180 - 200cm. You will need to take into account the slope on the side of the shelter when working out useable floor space under the awning. As for the awning poles, they are a fixed length.
