If you’ve ever wanted to cook a camp oven roast or a damper in the coals of a campfire then the Pioneer 4.5 quart Camp Oven Set is your ticket into the world of camp oven cooking. The set has everything you need to cook safely and easily with the inclusion of heat-resistant gloves and a lid lifter.
The camp oven is pre-seasoned with vegetable oil so you can start cooking straight away after a quick wash in warm soapy water - no more messy pre-preparation by cooking the oil onto the cast iron surface yourself.
The flanged lid will keep hot coals heaped on the oven for even heating. Flip the lid over and use it as a skillet with a little extra depth in the lid to avoid your food falling out of the skillet. 3 legs on the lid lend extra stability when used as a skillet. Two cool-touch wire handles make it safer and easier to control and carry the hot and heavy camp oven. No more steam burns either with the built-in steam release vent, simply line up the lid and oven to release any steam build-up before opening the lid. When the cooking and cleaning is done, you can store your oven in the included carry bag to keep dust and dirt from building up.

Hi Snowy's. Just wondering what comparisons / benefits of campfire 4.5 Q oven and campfire Pioneer 4.5 Q oven there are and how trivet is used on Pioneer ? IE does it have lid ? Does it sit on top and not down in base ? Am I correct in assuming the Pioneer is thicker / heavier?
G'day Greg,
They are essentially exactly the same, however, the Pioneer Camp Oven Set has a different kind of lid, which allows you to use it upside down as a skillet.
A trivet can be used in all camp ovens as they are generally made in a generic size. A trivet sits in the bottom of a camp oven and gives a short 'shelf' for food such as roasts and veggies to sit on. This means the food doe not burn on the base of the Camp Oven.
Hope that helps.
Hi Snowys, wondering if the oven actually fits in the bag it comes with. My son has this 4.5 set and had to buy a larger bag to fit the oven in. Thanks
G'day Karen,
Yep, it sure does, I've physically done it myself.
The handles need to be down at the base of the oven, and you'll need to shimmy the bag up the sides abit, but once its in it zips up no worries.
The camp oven bag does need to have a slightly more snug fit to prevent the oven and lid moving and bumping around in transport, which increase the chances of them breaking.
