For those just getting kitted out or hikers on a budget, the Maximus 3 tent from Explore Planet Earth is a perfect shelter for three.
It’s quick to pitch as it has a simple one-piece aluminium alloy 9.5 pole system. The inner is made from 40G B3 high-density mesh for ventilation, the floor is constructed from 150D nylon oxford with a 4000mm PU water column rating for protection and the fly is made from 190T ripstop polyester with a 4000mm rated PU coating for weather protection.
The interior accessory pockets allow you to stash your essentials, while the reflective guy ropes provide you with better visibility in the evening. Easy to pitch without breaking the bank, the Maximus 3 from Explore Planet Earth is an affordable option for hiking adventures.
How does this compare to the Spartan 3, is the Maximus 3 a newer model?
The Maximus is a newer tent than the Spartan, but in saying that they have discontinued the 3 person version of the Maximus, not sure why.
The Spartan tents have been a reliable and affordable tent with a functional design, maybe EPE are still working through a few design changes with the Maximus.
hi, does this tent have the led lighting system included?
G'day Katy,
There isn't a lighting system in the Maximus 3 Hiking Tent.
Yes there is! Mine came with the one in the video, and it's on the instructions, so it's meant to be there.
Thanks, Adam, the original model didn't have the lights, so thanks for the info.
hi, can one person set this up easily? thanks
G'day Kat,
You shouldn't have any trouble setting up the Explore Planet Earth Maximus 3 Person tent on your own, but we'd recommend doing a few practice runs before you set off on your adventure so you've got it down pat.
hi - just wondering if this tent is freestanding at all? thanks :)
G'day Mel,
Yes, the Maximus 3 is classified as a free-standing tent.
site says 2.75kg https://www.exploreplanetearth.com.au/tents-new/maximus-tents/maximus-3-1
G'day Bill,
We're sure our weight is correct as we've got the orange tick next to the weight which means we've physically weighed it for ourselves on our super dooper accurate scales.
Are the specs for packed size correct? The Maximus 3 seems to pack down to the same size as the Maximus 2...which would be great.
G'day Peter,
We've just weighed and measured the Maximus 3 tent now that our stock has arrived. The packed size is 55cm x 17cm.
