This set is dishwasher, microwave safe, and is food grade BPA free. If you wanted to use the mugs for hot beverages, there shouldn't be a problem.

Size of the cups and plates2 answers
Any idea of the diameter of the plates? Size of the cups? Seen a similar pack elsewhere and the cups and plates were really small in size. Thanks.

Great Question! I've measured the plates and cups and they are a decent size for everyday use. The plates measure 27cm across; the cups 9.5 across x 10.5 high and the bowls are 20cm across and about 3.5 deep.
