Picture this. You’re cooking dinner in your tent and your headlamp dies. Picture this too. You’re flicking through a book on your iPhone – got to carry your entire library on the trail – and the screen goes black. Sounds familiar right? Well, get an arm work out and juice up your device at the same time with the Crankmonkey. At 346g, it’s a lightweight asset for any pack.

If you know how to reel a fishing reel, you know how to operate a Crankmonkey. Plug the Mi USB connector into any Mini USB-receiving device, or your Apple sync/charge cord into the standard USB connector and start winding. A ten minute workout will give an iPhone 6 enough charge for 18-20 minutes of chin-wagging, or will power a Petzl headlamp for 6-7 hours. Best thing, the accomplishment you will feel after generating electricity. With your own two hands!

The Crankmoney is suitable for the hiker, cycle tourer, or mountaineer that wants a way to recharge their devices just in case.

  • 10 minutes of cranking equates to 18-20 talk time for an iPhone 6 or 6-7 hours of power for a Petzl headlamp
  • Waterproof to IP65 rating
  • Includes Micro USB to Mini USB, and Micro USB to standard USB connectors
  • Comes in a hard-wearing storage pouch
  • Will give you guns of steel in no time!

Quality build.

A quality and well built device, which is quite refreshing after all the rubbish sold these days. You may need to take the weight into consideration if hiking at altitude etc. It charges as advertised but it takes quite some time to charge a newer smart phone battery. Like only 1% charge in about 9minutes of cranking. The energy is comin from you! A great emergency backup power supply if the sun is not shining. If you have sun, a usb solar charger is far less effort.
