A good size for family camping, a Dometic (formerly Waeco) Cool Ice 55 Litre Icebox is a great balance of size and volume for adventure bound families. Featuring integrated carry handles and tie down straps as well as refrigeration grade insulation that keeps ice anywhere from 3 to 10 days.
Made through a roto-mould process, the Dometic Cool Ice Iceboxes have a smooth, precise and seam free finish, the hinges, seals and latches all line up, it’s tough and an absolute breeze to keep clean. A food quality gasket in the lid comes together in a ‘Labrinth Seal to keep the cool in and the heat out.
Strong nylon latches feature with stainless steel screws for easy replacement, fully integrated hinges sit flush with the exterior and are held together with stainless steel rods that will never need replacing.
Keeps ice for 3-10 days depending on usage patterns
Hi, what is the difference between the Dometic WCI and CI models? I note the latches and handles are different. Thanks
Peter - Wollongong(6 years ago)
G'day Peter,
The CI models have a few extra features compared to the WCI, so as you mentioned the handles and single component latches are different.
The CI models also have the option to add extra accessories such as dividers and baskets on the interior, or a drink holder or a cushion on the exterior as well.

Hi Peter,
I've just given our Dometic rep a call to confirm, as I had a feeling I'd missed something out when it came to the new features of the CI iceboxes.
He just let me know that the insulation in the CI models are actually around 20% thicker compared to the WCI models. Sorry for the confusion Peter.

Thanks. Will Snowys likely stock more of the CI Dometic range other than the 85 and 110L ones? I am after either a 55 or 70L icebox.

G'day Peter,
I've just double checked this with the purchasing team, and it looks like we will be ordering the CI 55 and CI 70 Iceboxes as well as the other models.
Unfortunately, we can't give you an exact ETA at this time, so you can either keep your eye out over the next couple of weeks for us to get them in online.
Or you can give our customer service team a buzz on 1300 914 007 and they can see what they can do about a special order.

Is there any way to fix a broken drain plug on this esky?1 answer
When I spin the drain plug to open, the whole piece spins (and therefore never opens to drain). The surprising thing is that the seal does not leak, which is the only positive.

G'day Critter,
This doesn't sound right. To better understand and help you with this drain plug issue, would you mind sending our Warranties Manager, Nick an email at service@snowys.com.au with a few images or even a video of what is happening and we'd love to look into this further for you.
