Image: Greg Conlon<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Am I eligible?<\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019ve often considered working for them while travelling, although never confident my skill sets will match their needs. Image: Greg Conlon<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>From sadness, joy<\/h2>\n<p>Of course, working with people who have lost so much and need assistance can be emotional.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe felt frustrated with some difficult situations, yet experienced satisfaction at having done a good and valuable job, and also joy at being thanked for what we had done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All agree they weren\u2019t expected to bust-a-gut on site.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, you\u2019re encouraged not to, but rather to do what you&#8217;re comfortable doing and asking for help if needed.<\/p>\n<p>This is key to the success of BlazeAid. They are also strongly advised to have Ambulance Cover when they come to the basecamps.<\/p>\n<p>BlazeAid provides \u2013 a site for your setup, all meals, toilets and hot showers and relevant personal protective equipment or (PPE). Image: Greg Conlon<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Something for young and old<\/h2>\n<p>It is clearly stated on the website that the organisation\u2019s insurance only covers volunteers aged 12 to 85.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone under 18 years must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult.
